Unwritten Rules

This is a coming out story—there is no forced outing, but it does wrangle with coming out as a choice. Also included are:

  • Complicated family dynamics including themes of heteronormativity.

  • References to and brief depictions of homophobia, ableism, sexism, racism, classism, antisemitism, and xenophobia. These do not involve use of slurs.

  • Brief references to generational trauma.

Fire Season

FIRE SEASON is a prequel to UNWRITTEN RULES that takes place one season prior. Both books can be read as standalones.

This is a story, in part, about a character who is in recovery from alcohol use disorder who remains sober throughout the book. The story also includes:

  • Major characters with anxiety;

  • Brief depictions of anxiety/panic attacks;

  • References to drinking and drug use;

  • Brief references to past sexual assault;

  • Discussion and depiction of climate change and climate change-related displacement (fire, hurricanes, etc.); and

  • Themes of heteronormativity, references to/brief depictions of biphobia and homophobia, ableism, sexism, racism, classism, and antisemitism. These do not involve religiously based intolerance or use of slurs.

Diamond Ring

DIAMOND RING is set in the same world as UNWRITTEN RULES and FIRE SEASON. Each book can be read as a standalone.

The story depicts a main character’s anxiety/panic attacks and obsessive/compulsive behaviors, and side effects related to medication for these.

The story also includes:

  • References to an offscreen death by suicide, and the death of a parent;

  • Discussions of foster care and adoption; and

  • Themes of heteronormativity, references to/brief depictions of biphobia/homophobia, ableism, sexism, racism, classism, and antisemitism. These do not involve religiously based intolerance or use of slurs.

 

Standalones

One True Outcome

  • Content includes discussion of prior parental death due to cancer (off-page) and medical debt; on-page depictions of anxiety and chronic pain due to injury including ablism; casual drug use/drinking; and a power differential between characters (which is discussed/negotiated as part of the story). The characters are ten years apart; the younger character is 26. There is a brief discussion/depiction of structural homophobia that does not involve slurs.

 

  Short Stories and Anthologies

An Occasional Victory

  • Content includes references to and brief depictions of homophobia. These do not involve use of slurs.

The Wise Men of the New York Gothams

  • No content notes.

The Koufax Curse

  • Content includes references to antisemitism. These do not involve use of slurs.

The Last Plague

  • This is a horror story. Content includes references to and depictions of antisemitism, depictions of violence, and off-screen character death.

Unwritten Runes

Depictions of ghosts/possession and some suspenseful elements, as well as a (very) brief discussion of homophobia that does not involve the use of slurs. This story is for 18+ audiences.
